Tony Ruffin celebrated his 14th year of service with Pepco in January 2024 and has served for four years as External Affairs Manager for Pepco Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Tony has advanced through the ranks of the company during his tenure by first serving as Senior Strategic Planning Manager and then after the Pepco-Exelon merger in 2016, moving to the Maryland Affairs team as a Senior External Affairs Specialist.

Prior to joining Pepco, Tony spent 15 years in communications as an award-winning news reporter in Syracuse, N.Y. and Newark, N.J. before serving as a media relations manager for two of the largest public-school districts in the state of Maryland and in the City of Rockville.

A native of the District of Columbia, Tony earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from The George Washington University and Master of Arts degree in Public Communication from The American University. He is also a 2023 graduate of Leadership Montgomery and received the 2023 Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) Customer Service in Excellence Award. 

Tony’s volunteerism includes serving for five years as the Professional Advisor for the Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at American University, his alma mater. He also was selected as one of two Business Program Mgrs. in support of the PHI African American Executive Advisory Council, whose mission is to serve as an advisory resource to the President & CEO of PHI on matters involving the retention and development of African American talent within the organization and matters involving racial equity in the communities Pepco serves.
